Chamomile: Medicinal, Biochemical, and Agricultural Aspects was written by Moumita Das and published in 2014 by CRC Press. The featured excerpt includes the book’s title page, table of contents, and preface, as well as the introduction and Chapter 1, “Introduction to Chamomile.”

Moumita Das, PhD, has written the 13th volume in CRC Press’s “Traditional Herbal Medicines for Modern Times” series focusing on Matricaria recutita, commonly known as German or Hungarian chamomile. Chamomile provides the latest information on a variety of topics, with chapters on the botany, medicinal properties, and cultivation of the plant. The text serves a wide audience of readers, from researchers and scientists to cultivators and entrepreneurs.

A detailed table of contents allows readers to access the precise information they seek, and over 30 tables in the text put much of the data in a clear, easy-to-read format. According to CRC Press, “this book provides the latest on the medicinal, aromatic, and cultivation aspects of chamomile. It covers chamomile’s geographical distribution, taxonomy, chemistry, pharmacology, genetics, biochemistry, breeding, and cultivation. The book also discusses the profiles of the several medicinally active compounds of the oil and extracts and how their levels could be increased through breeding.” Each chapter ends with an extensive list of references, citing many current as well as classic publications.
